PM5 Firmware Timeline

The current versions of PM5 Firmware are listed below. The version you need depends on which hardware version your PM5 runs. More info

Indoor rower version 27 and SkiErg version 727 and lower are for PM5 monitors that run hardware version lower than 600.

Indoor rower version 154 or higher, and SkiErg version 854 or higher, are for PM5s that use hardware version 600 or higher. These monitors were put into circulation in December 2016.

Current firmware releases resolve many of the issues identified in earlier firmware versions. If you are not running current firmware, we recommend updating your monitor.

BikeErg

Timeline for Firmware Version 320

  • March 2018—PM5 Firmware Version 320 released. This version contains:
    • Addition of French, German, Dutch and Danish language support
    • Numerous minor bugfixes and improvements
  • December 2017—PM5 Firmware Version 319 released. This version contained:
    • Miscellaneous minor fixes
    • Addition of battery level indicator
  • September 2017—PM5 Firmware Version 313 released. This version contained:
    • Maximum JustRide and Fixed Distance workout metres increased
    • Minor fixes to calibration process
  • August 2017—PM5 Firmware Version 306 released. This was the initial release of firmware for the BikeErg.

Indoor Rowers

Timeline for Firmware Version 163

  • June 2018—PM5 Firmware Version 163 released. Version 163 is the current production version of PM5 Firmware for PM5s installed on indoor rowers and that have hardware version 600 or higher. This version contains:
    • Wireless improvements
    • Improvements for certain non-standard techniques
    • Limited automatic searching for wireless devices after a prior connection has been made
    • Many other bug fixes and improvements for racing
    • Changes necessary for production with alternative memory chips
  • March 2018—PM5 Firmware Version 161 released. This version contained:
    • Numerous wireless improvements and bug fixes
    • Numerous venue racing improvements
    • Russian language updates
    • Added battery icon to Main screen
    • Fixed issue with calories decrementing under certain conditions
    • Fixed issue with configuring optional workout pace
    • Miscellaneous minor fixes

  • September 2017—PM5 Firmware Version 159 released. This version contained:
    • Numerous wireless improvements

    • Fixed issue with hanging on "Wireless Off" screen
    • Fixed issue with 100,000m distance intervals not logging properly
    • Fixed issue with some calorie intervals not logging

  • February 2017—PM5 Firmware Version 156 released. This version contained:
    • Venue Race bug fixes
    • Diagnostics to determine if the internal crystal has failed
    • Many wireless improvements
  • January 2017—PM5 Firmware Version 155 released. This version contained bug fixes for Venue Racing.
  • December 2016—PM5 Firmware Version 154 released. This release provided support for hardware versions 600 and higher.

Timeline for Firmware Version 27

  • June 2018—PM5 Firmware Version 27 released. Version 27 is the current version of PM5 Firmware for PM5s installed on indoor rowers and that have a hardware version lower than 600. This version contains:
    • Wireless improvements
    • Improvements for certain non-standard techniques
    • Limited automatic searching for wireless devices after a prior connection has been made
    • Many other bug fixes and improvements for racing
    • Changes necessary for production with alternative memory chips
  • March 2018—PM5 Firmware Version 26 released. This release contained:

    • Fixed issue with hanging on "Wireless Off" screen
    • Fixed issue with 100,000m distance intervals not logging properly
    • Fixed issue with some calorie intervals not logging
    • Miscellaneous minor fixes
  • May 2016—PM5 Firmware Version 22 released. This release contained:
    • The ability to set up calorie based workouts*
    • Functionality that tests the cable and reports problems to the user before a workout is set up
    • Many bug fixes, including some USB Overload issues, the issue where a monitor without batteries won't power up when rowing, and many others
    • New ANT+FE-C wireless features for group rowing software; we encourage developers to inquire about this feature

    *Note: Concept2 Utility versions 6.999 and older are not compatible with calorie based workouts. If you have 1) updated your PM5 to Firmware Version 22, 2) have calorie based results on your monitor, and 3) use the Concept2 Utility to upload results to your Online Logbook, upgrade to Concept2 Utility Version 7 or higher before using the Concept2 Utility to upload calorie based workouts to your online logbook. Otherwise, those workouts may be deleted from your monitor/USB flash drive.

  • October 2015—PM5 Firmware Version 20 released. This release contained:
    • Wireless racing PM5 to PM5 only
    • Japanese Language updates
    • A fix for wired PC-Less racing with five or more participants
    • A fix for the issue that occurs when listing results by type and Rerow after alternating between an indoor rower and a SkiErg
    • A fix for the issue that occurs when doing successive workouts while connected to a PC
    • A fix for the issue where the workout detail screen gets stuck on Calories
    • Fixes for "161" errors with Concept2 Utility
    • Improvements for Code 46 error conditions
    • A fix for the issue with Paceboat for variable intervals
    • Updates to Bluetooth Smart and CSAFE commands
    • Fixes for Bluetooth Smart for Android
    • Possible fix for iConnectConcept2 cable for older iPhones

  • April 2015—PM5 Firmware Version 19 released. This release contained:
    • Improvements related to USB flash drive operation

  • March 2015—PM5 Firmware Version 18 released. This release contained:
    • Many bug fixes and improvements related to USB flash drives
    • A fix for the Bluetooth Smart for Android connection
    • A fix for missing pace and metres on some rowing screens

    • Local racing False start bug fix
  • February 2015—PM5 Firmware Version 17 released. This release contained:
    • Improvements to updating PM5 firmware with the USB flash drive
    • Wireless capability in ErgData for iOS
    • Wireless ANT+FE capability to Garmin watches
    • Support for some non-compliant Bluetooth Smart heart rate belts
    • Fixes for all known Venue Race issues (problems enumerating/connecting, false starts, and split results collection)
    • Support for newer hardware
    • More accurate battery level display
    • Improvements to the USB flash drive operation, including the ability to collect diagnostic data that will be sent to Concept2 for future product improvements
    • Capability to recover corrupted LogBook data
    • Chinese
    • Improvements to how SkiErg workouts are identified so that the Concept2 Utility and ErgData can upload them properly
    • Improvements for USB to computer connections for Windows 8.1 and some Windows 7 computers

    • The following enhancements:
      • Additional options when viewing workouts in PM5 Memory (Summary, Monthly Totals and List by Type)
      • Longer monitor timeout period when you have set up but not yet begun a workout
      • The ability to save workouts with Undefined Rest as favorites
      • The ability to view calories burned in addition to calories per hour burned when viewing the details for a completed workout
